Interesting tidbit from Britain.
Bob Wright and I discussed the book on Bloggingheads last week. Sorry for not posting this sooner. Embedding the video is strangely difficult for me — I nearly lost my thumb last time I tried. Anyway, congratulations to Bob for admitting he hadn’t read it and still seeming to understand it better than Michael Tomasky, Tim Noah and so many others who claimed they read it.
From the DC Examiner:
Those who care about the First Amendment and constitutional liberty must wake up: The phenomenon that French philosopher Jean-Francois Revel called “the totalitarian temptation” and conservative columnist Jonah Goldberg termed “liberal fascism” is an increasingly prominent fact of American political life, and one that threatens constitutional freedoms of speech, assembly, press and thought.
This is a portion of an email my mom got from a family friend:
Dear Lucy,
Stephan spent much of the summer on a college program in Italy, and when he
arrived home he announced the most talked about, most read, most popular
book of his trip was — you guessed it, Jonah’s book — Liberal Fascism.
All the professors & students were reading it - and holding vehement
discussions. So, truly, there’s a universal appeal. Cool.
Got to love it.
Greetings from the sea. This piece at Reason echoes a lot of what I say in the book. Good stuff.
